  1. Ariful Islam is a successful businessman who is enthusiastic about sustainability in his industry. His company produces several types of bags, aprons, and caps using jute and recyclable materials. When it’s not necessary, Ariful Islam makes sure his factory and home utilize as little water and electricity as possible. Even outside his “Ausbangla Jutex Ltd.” green facility, he grows trees. Now, why is sustainability causing so much concern? You may inquire. We are all aware of the serious effects that plastic waste and global warming are currently having on our planet. Now, why is sustainability causing so much concern? You may inquire. We are all aware of the serious effects that plastic waste and global warming are currently having on our planet. Sustainable development is the answer. Sustainability is the ability to sustain or enhance the availability of desired materials or situations over an extended period of time. Sustainability helps our world economically, environmentally and preserves natural resources for future generations.

Starting with the economy, sustainability benefits us by saving fuel and lowering fuel prices, lowering the negative health effects of air and water pollution, reducing traffic congestion, and making streets safer for drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and transit users. According to a recent study by Harvard University researchers, worldwide energy efficiency projects have an average internal rate of return (IRR) of 23%. 4 As a result, investment in sustainable solutions, energy conservation, and low-carbon projects not only safeguards and preserves the environment but also produces greater financial results. We would use less gasoline if we walked more frequently in instead of driving, which would benefit our economy. According to a World Health Organization research on road safety, 1.35 million individuals each year pass away in traffic and road accidents (Peng, 2022). When possible, we should aim to avoid using cars, at least for short trips, as this would help cut carbon emissions and protect the environment. If you live in a walkable city, we can try using an electric car, a bicycle, or a stroll. It’s a terrific way to get moving and lessen your reliance on gasoline-powered vehicles.

Road accidents would likewise go down in this way. Over time, small individual actions can really add up! These are how sustainability helps us economically.

Second, sustainability benefits the environment by preserving ecosystems and lowering waste production. Numerous sea turtles, seabirds, and other marine mammals perish each year as a result of plastic pollution. According to the National Geographic channel, plastic kills millions of creatures every year, including fish, birds, and other marine life. There are around 700 species known to have been impacted by plastics, including some that are endangered. Almost all types of seabirds consume plastic. Consequently, we must reduce plastic waste by utilizing reusable bags and avoiding goods made of plastic. Plastic cannot biodegrade, therefore unless it is

repurposed by a business dedicated to sustainability, it ends up in landfills. On the fly, we may even try bringing our own bottles. Reusable dishcloths are preferable to paper towels, and reusable shopping bags are preferable to paper or plastic ones. Additionally, we may pack our food properly and waste-free using reusable food storage containers.

Last but not least, sustainability protects the environment for future generations. We all have a moral duty to preserve the world for ourselves, our offspring, and other species, regardless of who we are, where we live, or what we do. Future generations are severely impacted by our current decisions and deeds. Making moral decisions that ensure everyone has a safe and livable future is ensured by practicing sustainability. Future generations will suffer if we exhaust the Earth’s resources. For instance, if we overfish our oceans, we run the risk of reducing not only the quantity of fish but also the quantity of all the organisms in the fish’s food chain. Our society gains over time from better air and water quality, fewer landfills, and more renewable energy sources. Sustainable practices aid in changing society for the better. Following a sustainable lifestyle will lessen your carbon footprint and the quantity of contaminants discharged into the environment, hence enhancing its safety. The entire planet benefits and gets to live in more hygienic, healthier conditions when we put our attention on sustainability.

These are how sustainability helps our world economically, environmentally and preserves natural resources for future generations.
