Carol Montealegre is an anthropologist, performance artist, and filmmaker who experiments with mixed media and develops site specific work. Her work desires to bring together attentiveness to place, an austere command of physical movement and tension, and a generous engagement with the dynamics of the personal and impersonal. By improving the ability to affect how others view the world and operate within it, profound endurance and grace are motivated by a generous approach to human interaction. Inspired by her research on human rights violations in the global south, Carol takes challenging political ideas and creates live images and interactive performances from them. She aims to use experimental film and live art as mediums for human emancipation.
